    Job Description

    Our client, Virginia's largest institution of higher education, is looking to add a Canvas LMS Student Support Specialist to their online education division. The Canvas LMS Student Support Specialist and Trainer is a full time, 18 year + contract position offering a full benefit package (to include health, dental, 401K.

    The Canvas LMS Student Support Specialist and Trainer to contribute to the development, expansion and maintenance of a comprehensive Canvas training and development program for students. he Canvas LMS Trainer will provide virtual training and support to students on how to navigate and utilize their Canvas courses. The trainer will lead webinars and conduct 1:1 virtual appointments with students, as well as respond to support tickets on student submitted Canvas related issues. The trainer will be responsible for creating resource guides, videos, and helping to create and maintain other documentation and resources related to Canvas for student usage.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position will work directly with the Canvas Support and Educational Technology training staff and will:

    · Provides Canvas training and support to students

    · Conducts webinars and provides 1:1 user support on the Canvas platform

    · Creates user-friendly instructional materials and resources in various formats including resource guide, web pages, and Canvas resource courses and videos

    · Works with the Educational Technology team to support educational technology integrations inside of Canvas

    · Evaluate training needs and assess training effectiveness

    · Respond to support tickets generated by student users relevant to use of Canvas LMS as assigned

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    · Access to home internet with speeds of at least 15 MBPS.

    · Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology or closely related degree

    · 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Canvas LMS support, preferably in a higher education environment

    · Prior experience in creating resource guides and documentation

    · Prior experience in developing and delivering online training workshops and video tutorials

    · Outstanding oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and user support skills

    · Strong technology skills including expertise using Canvas integrations such as Zoom, Microsoft Office and Google Suite

    · Experience using and supporting video and web conferencing tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams

    · Must be able to work effectively with all levels of students

    · Able to work independently and as part of a team

    · Superior customer-service skills; must enjoy helping students and adult learners

    · Demonstrated ability to conduct virtual trainings

    · Excellent oral and written communication skills

    · Excellent organizational skills

    · Strong work ethic
