Electronics Refurbishing Specialist

About the Role: Are you a "tech person" who loves working with your hands? We are looking for a reliable, high-energy Electronics Specialist to help us process, test, and refresh incoming technology. You’ll be the first person to handle devices as they arrive, ensuring they are wiped clean of data, upgraded for better performance, and ready for their next home. This is a fast-paced role perfect for someone who enjoys staying active and likes to see a "to-do" pile turn into a "done" pile every day.

What You’ll Do

Unbox & Organize: Receive shipments of laptops, phones, and computers. You’ll sort them by type and model so everything stays organized.

Inventory Tracking: Use our internal system to log serial numbers and specs (like RAM and storage) so we have an accurate count of our gear.

Data Wiping: Follow our security steps to ensure all old data is completely erased. Data security is our top priority!

Functional Testing: You will run diagnostic tests to check device health, including battery life, screen quality, and keyboard functionality to identify what needs to be fixed.

Hands-on Upgrades: You will perform basic hardware "refreshes," such as swapping out old batteries and upgrading slow hard drives to faster SSDs to give devices a second life.

Tech Refresh: Clean up the devices physically and reinstall basic software (like Windows) so the next user has a fresh start.

Quality Control: Perform final checks to ensure everything is functional and looks great before it moves to our finished inventory.

What We’re Looking For

High Energy & Fast Pace: You enjoy a job where the day flies by. You are comfortable being on your feet and staying in motion to meet daily processing goals.

Comfort with Tech: You should know your way around a PC or Mac and be comfortable using small tools to test and replace internal components like batteries or storage drives.

Attention to Detail: You’re the type of person who notices the small things and takes pride in an organized workspace.

Physical Ability: You can comfortably lift and move boxes or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Computer Basics: You’re comfortable using Microsoft Excel and can learn new software quickly.

Helpful Experience (But not required!)

If you’ve ever built your own PC, upgraded your own laptop, or fixed a broken phone screen.

If you’ve worked in a warehouse, a repair shop, or a busy retail environment.

If you know how to safely handle and recycle old electronics.

Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00AM - 3:30PM Occasional overtime may be required during high-volume periods to ensure we meet our customer deadlines. Type: Full-time Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour Location: South Beloit IL
