Scott Engineering, Inc. is looking for a skilled Electrostatic Painter II for our 3rd shift who will, under moderate supervision, operate electrostatic/conventional spray guns to paint metal cabinets and interior fixtures, clean and maintain the spray booth and paint equipment, and assist other departments as needed. Responsibilities: Supervisory Responsibilities: • None. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. • Apply coating/paint with electric static airless spray guns. • Maintain painting equipment, which includes making minor repairs and ensuring proper supplies are on hand to complete assigned tasks. • Work effectively as a member of a team, while continuously striving to improve and develop individual skills and knowledge. • Apply epoxy and polyurethane coatings in a manufacturing environment. • Knowledge of surface preparation, mixing 2 and 3 component coatings, application equipment, and application of performance coatings on steel components. • Operate various pieces of equipment, such as Forklifts, spray guns, and other specialty equipment. • Work independently with minimal supervision. • Meet or exceed deadlines and schedules. • Comply with all safety rules and guidelines. Qualifications: Required Skills/Abilities: • Safety: Understand safety hazards and how to properly ground the operator, target, air hose, and paint supply. Wear gloves with a metal strip on the palm to ground the painter. • Electrostatic painting process: Understand how electrostatic painting works, including how the power pack charges the paint and the item being coated. • Spray gun operation: Know how to use the spray gun and how to troubleshoot issues. For example, the spray gun pressure should be between 0.35 and 0.5MPa. • Environment: Be aware of the temperature and humidity of the environment. The construction site should have a temperature of 18–25°C and a relative humidity of 45–65%. • Spray gun cleaning: Clean the spray gun system immediately after spraying, and make sure the nozzle is not blocked. Education and Experience: • High school diploma or GED equivalent. Physical Requirements: • Confined spaces: Workers spraying paint in confined spaces must wear an airline respirator. • Enclosed spaces: Workers spraying paint in enclosed spaces must wear an airline respirator unless the ventilation is adequate. • Large, well-ventilated areas: Workers can wear respirators in these areas. • Standing: Stand for long periods of time while sanding, prepping, and painting. • Lifting: Lift up to 25+ lbs or more to move materials. • Reaching: Reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch. • Color determination: Be able to determine colors when mixing paints. • Physical activity: Be physically active for extended periods without getting tired or out of breath.
