Elementary Physical Education Teacher (25.26 School Year)
Job Description
On the day-to-day basis, you can look forward to the following:
Curriculum Development and Instruction
Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned physical education curriculum
Develop engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments focused on physical fitness, teamwork, and motor skills
Use student performance data to inform instructional decisions and modify lessons for diverse learners
Provide students with daily feedback on skill development, participation, and personal fitness goals
Plan for individual learning needs to support all students in achieving physical, social, and emotional growth
Help Build a Positive School and Classroom Culture
Embody and maintain the school’s values, policies, and culture both in and out of the gymnasium
Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff to foster a supportive and inclusive environment
Establish and maintain strong communication with all parents and share progress toward physical education goals and fitness achievements
Effectively supervise and manage a class of up to 30 students during physical activity, ensuring safety and engagement at all times
Show up for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, family fitness nights, parent-teacher conferences, and more
Demonstrate a Growth Mindset
Pursue challenging professional goals each year to enhance instructional practice and student outcomes
Give and receive positive and constructive feedback with colleagues to strengthen team collaboration
Participate in school-wide and individual professional development opportunities related to physical education, health, and wellness
School-Based Staff must have the ability to...
Operate a computer and office equipment on a daily basis for lesson planning, communication, and data entry
Engage in frequent physical activity including running, lifting, climbing, and demonstrating exercises
Occasionally perform moderate lifting, pushing, and pulling of athletic equipment
Maintain emotional control and classroom management under stress or high-energy conditions
Interpret policy, procedures, and student data to guide decision-making
Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with students, staff, and families
Qualifications
BACHELOR'S DEGREE REQUIRED
Appropriate Missouri Teacher Certification PREFERRED (PE: K-12 Certificaiton) ; or a willingness to become certified ASAP; OR A valid substitute teaching certification
Pass Criminal Background Check
Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap
