    THE OPPORTUNITY:

    Our Client, a premier packer and shipper of specialty fruits and fruit-based products based in Riverside County, is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join their team. The position will report to the Controller with a dotted line to the President. This person will be the onsite point person for finance, accounting, cash management, insurance, tax, worker's compensation, human resources, etc. Experience in food and beverage, manufacturing, agriculture, and Sage is a plus.

     

    WHAT YOU'LL DO:

    • Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; and post transactions; ensure legal requirements compliance including AR and AP
    • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles for multiple entities
    • Improve month-end close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts regularly to ensure GAAP compliance
    • Assist Controller with inventory and cash flow analysis as needed
    • Maintain and update Excel templates and formulas as may be required
    • Communicate with and support other functions including sales, marketing, and operations as needed to complete job duties
    • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
    • Accurate and timely distribution of all financial information.
    • Work with operations to ensure product costing and related accounting is accurate
    • Maintain reporting of our fixed assets and tracking of capital projects
    • Prepare and file sales tax, and business tax and assist with ensuring compliance with legal requirements of jurisdictions the various businesses are in.
    • Interact with Outside CPA Firm during Year-End Review
    • Provide support to Human Resources regarding compliance on Worker’s Comp and procedural matters

     

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

    • Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, including pivot tables, vlookups, financial model development
    • Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles
    • Able to support multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines; be solutions-orientation when problem-solving and able to demonstrate a sense of urgency
