  • Responsibilities

    The Department of Justice (DOJ) Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA) provides executive and administrative support for the 93 United States Attorneys located throughout the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Marianas Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U. S. Virgin Islands. Such support includes legal education, administrative oversight, technical support, and the creation of uniform policies, among other responsibilities.

    This position is on-site at the Department of Justice (DOJ), Executive Office for United States Attorneys, supporting multiple software development and maintenance projects simultaneously in an Agile development environment. The Java Developer analyzes functional requirements, develops and unit tests Java code that implements the requirements, provides status updates in scrum meetings, and documents the completion of requirements in Jira.

     

    WHAT YOU'LL DO:

    • Analyzes functional requirements to identify code changes that implement the requirement.
    • Analyze edge cases to determine the effect each code change will have in other portions of the application.
    • Participates in daily scrum reviews with all team members to report progress, blockers, and open action items.
    • Remediates 508 accessibility shortfalls in software applications based on ANDI compliance reports.
    • Demonstrates a grasp of the principles, theories, and concepts of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile design and development processes.
    • Performs verification of code changes through unit testing before updating the status in Jira.
    • Demonstrates the ability to generate problem and change reports using Jira; communicates orally and in writing with the Project Manager, Development Lead, software developers, and Requirements Analyst to ensure the planned software changes will satisfy the functional requirements.
    • Participates in code peer reviews as both an author and a reviewer.

     

     

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

    • A BS or MS degree in computer science or a related field.
    • Minimum of four years of software development experience, preferably in support of a government customer.
    • Ability to work on the client site in Washington, DC.

     

     

    WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT:

    • Familiar with SQL and creating SQL scripts.
    • Familiar with 508 accessibility standards.
    • Works independently to analyze and implement complex Java code solutions.
    • Provides status to the Development Lead on all test activities.
    • Must be willing to work on-site, full-time, in Downtown DC. Remote support is permitted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but remote work may be rescinded by the customer.
    • Must be able to report for work M-F, 5 days a week. Alternative flex schedule allowed within normal work hours (i.e., between the hours of 7 am – 6 pm).
    • Must be able to obtain a DOJ Public Trust clearance.
