The Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring completion of the daily business processes and confirming the success of the system and data protection process. They will manage projects involving testing and scheduling of changes or upgrades to be rolled out.

Our client is looking for someone with a strong commitment to technical excellence and teamwork, and who can see projects through all stages of development. This position will require working a rotational on-call schedule to cover for off-hours and weekends.

Essential Duties

• Monitor job processing and function as the primary support for file transfers, back-end applications, and automated processes
• Troubleshoot market data connectivity issues; review daily reports and process verification for vendor file arrival logs, business administrators with application issues, application log review, and incident reporting
• Responsible for writing certain IT operations procedures and executive summaries for projects
• Provide support to the Business Continuity Plan team and Release Management team.
• Ensure accurate documentation of current procedures as well as relevant information about existing systems
• Perform backups and tape rotation; support tape drive hardware; monitor and restore requests, handle the backup error, and help edit backup policies
  

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Information System, or related field; or equivalent work experience
• Understanding of scheduling solutions (Tidal and SQL Enterprise Manager)
  
• Able to work an on-call schedule when needed
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple objectives and initiatives
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills; ability to diagnose root-cause issues and identify targeted solutions
  
• Experience with Brocade and Nortel/Avaya products a plus
• Experience working in the financial services industry preferred
