    Job Description

    Our client is investing in a multi-year technology roadmap and the Data Architect will collaborate on design and lead implementation of long-term data strategies. They are looking for an architect with a strong data engineering background and experience implementing the full data lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, and production deployment of transactional systems in large enterprise settings.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • OLTP systems while also collaborating on and integrating with OLAP systems.
    • Form partnerships with teams across the organization including application development, operations/trade processing, portfolio management, compliance, analytics, and pricing to help the data engineering group meet the firm’s data governance needs.
    • Identify strategic data/workflow gaps in the firm’s ecosystem and advocate for new technologies and techniques.
    • Collaborate on the introduction of new tools, platforms, and techniques for working with data lakes and warehouses that ingest, transform, organize, and expose data consistently and efficiently.
    • Provide technical leadership on the implementation, support, and management of enterprise data to improve efficiencies/reliability by simplifying data access, eliminating redundancies, and integrating disparate data structures into coherent enterprise data models.
    • Work with a documentation team to create data dictionaries and business glossaries to document data lineages, data definitions and metadata for all business-critical data domains.
    • Collaborate with other departments to streamline data flow and caching while designing and building the data models needed to derive dashboards, reports, and insights.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, engineering, or a closely related field; advanced degree preferred
    • 10+ years of experience as a data architect
    • Proficiency in relational and dimensional modeling techniques and experience working with finance professionals in a time-sensitive environment
    • Experience in designing security master data warehouses and financial transaction processing data sets for a financial organization across a variety of asset classes
    • Experience documenting technical requirements and architecture choices for enterprise solutions
    • Technical Mastery of both legacy and modern tools/platforms such as SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Server to assist with legacy modernization

    • Strong leadership and communication skills including an ability to collaborate well with stakeholders across all levels within the organization
    • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical staff
    • A self-starter and team player with an ability to manage complex challenges

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Expertise with large scale, distributed systems that include a mix of proprietary and third-party applications
    • Data warehouse implementation experience for a buy-side investment firm including an understanding of the Asset Management industry
    • Experience with integration of external data providers like Bloomberg, CoreLogic, or FactSet.
    • Experience with cloud data Integration technologies such as SQL Azure
