Clinical Director - Ellie Mental Health

Ellie Mental Health is seeking a licensed Clinical Director to help lead and shape a growing outpatient mental health practice in Sherman Oaks.

This is an opportunity for a clinician who wants meaningful leadership, influence, and team impact without taking on the full financial and administrative burden of private practice ownership.

We are building a clinician-centered practice focused on excellent care, sustainable workloads, strong culture, and long-term team health. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring clinicians, shaping clinical culture, and helping build the kind of practice clinicians actually want to work in.

You’ll have the support of established operational infrastructure for billing, credentialing, HR, payroll, marketing, scheduling, and administrative operations, allowing you to focus primarily on clinical leadership, supervision, team development, and quality of care.

This is not a solo practice ownership role. It is also not a high-volume therapy role. It is a supported leadership opportunity with real influence, strong partnership, and room to grow.

    What You’ll Do

Lead clinical culture, quality, and care standards for the practice

Provide supervision and mentorship to clinicians in accordance with California BBS requirements

Support clinician onboarding, development, and retention

Maintain a small, intentional caseload (approximately 6–10 clients)

Partner with operational leadership on healthy, sustainable practice growth

Support clinicians through complex cases and clinical decision-making

Help create a collaborative, accountable, and supportive team environment

Contribute to building a practice culture centered on strong care, clinician wellbeing, and accessibility

    What Makes This Role Different

Many leadership roles in mental health come with high burnout, excessive administrative burden, or unrealistic expectations.

We are intentionally building something different:

Real clinical leadership without running everything alone

Administrative and operational infrastructure already in place

Protected focus on clinical quality and team support

    Small caseload expectations

    Collaborative partnership model

Opportunity to shape culture and influence growth

Leadership role with sustainability in mind

This is a role for someone who wants impact and autonomy while still having support.

    Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is:

A strong clinician with sound judgment and professionalism

Interested in leadership, mentorship, and team development

    Collaborative, emotionally steady, and communicative

Supportive while still able to maintain accountability and boundaries

Interested in helping build a healthy, sustainable outpatient practice

Excited by the opportunity to shape culture and support clinicians

This role can be a great fit for someone stepping into larger leadership responsibilities for the first time, or for an experienced leader looking for a more balanced and supported environment.

    Qualifications

    Required

Active California license in good standing (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, PsyD, or PhD)

Experience in outpatient mental health or similar clinical settings

Experience supporting, mentoring, or supervising clinicians

Experience supervising associates in accordance with California BBS requirements

Strong communication and clinical documentation skills

Ability to collaborate effectively with operational support teams

    Preferred

Prior leadership or clinical supervisory experience

Experience helping build or support clinical teams

Interest in practice development and community relationships

    Compensation & Benefits

    Base salary: $120,000 – $140,000 DOE

    Performance-based bonus opportunity

    Health, dental, and vision benefits

    401(k)

    Paid time off

    Leadership growth opportunities

    Administrative and operational support infrastructure

    Flexible and sustainable leadership mode
