  • Responsibilities

    Summary / objective: Responsible for providing oversight for implementation of park programs and projects. Provides operational oversight of assigned programs through monitoring/evaluating systems, processes, outcomes, and culture ensuring the highest standards. The position collaborates with leaders, community partners and staff to create, implement, and advance innovative programs and processes.

    Essential functions / duties:

    Manages the implementation and compliance of all program projects and initiatives as identified by facility leadership.

    Manages collaborations between the Conservancy and Houston Parks and Recreation in carrying out project planning, development and implementation; as well as providing liaison support to the Executive Director as needed.

    Responsible for creating program content, including, but not limited to developing budgets and implementation plans, benchmarking, reporting and tracking metrics.

    Ensures project reporting is current and projects are progressing within an agreed upon scope, timeline and budget.

    Collaborates with the communication and fundraising teams to create print, audio, visual and digital marketing and branding material around Conservancy programming.

    Ensures that projects and programs follow partner protocols.

    Coordinates meetings of project implementation workgroups.

    Ensures timely and effective completion of project milestones.

    Develops and coordinates the communication, education and training plan related to the implementation of projects and programs.

    Ensures a professional environment for staff and visitors; adheres to all Emancipation Park policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

    Promotes individual professional growth and development; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory responsibilities: None.

    Position type and expected hours of work: Full-time (40+ hours per week, including some nights and weekends)

    Required education and experience: Bachelor’s degree with 2 to 4 years of experience.

    Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter. May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.

    Competencies: Ability to build collaborative relationships. Organizational skills. Project scheduling skills. Oral and written communication skills.
