OPERATIONS MANAGER - Emancipation Park Conservancy (EPC) works to enhance Emancipation Park by preserving its integrity and enriching its heritage as a local, state, national, and international landmark. EPC is seeking an OPERATIONS Manager (OM) to work closely with leadership to advance the Conservancy’s operational processes and to ensure superb customer experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PARK OPERATIONS, MAINTENANCE AND MANAGEMENT
- Develop management strategies that elevate the Park visitor experience and proactively promote the Park’s rich culture and historical value.
- Develop and execute efficient and economical operation and maintenance processes
- Meeting and/or exceed all goals as outlined in the EPC strategic plan as related to park operations
- Liaise with HPARD and other city departments, TIRZ7, Houston Southeast Management District, park users, park advocacy groups, volunteers and outside vendors with a focus on transparency, accountability and a relationship of trust between stakeholder groups.
- Work with HPARD to ensure critical issues are addressed by the appropriate parties
- Developing business plans for future capital projects
- Translate strategic into actionable goals for performance and growth implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management and annual operating planning
- Prepare and manage park maintenance and operations budget in cooperation with executive director and EPC’s Finance Resource
- Overseeing purchasing procedures, inventory control, equipment maintenance, contract negotiations, concessions and earned income development, compliance matters and required reporting procedures for park maintenance and operations functions.
- Overseeing the all facility management processes, including telecommunications, mail operations, and telephone/public reception, office supplies and equipment
- Providing assistance to the executive director on HR processes, ensuring compliance with labor laws
- Providing guidance in satisfying requirements based on extensive knowledge of policies and procedures
- Managing guidelines and analyze information to achieve results, improve workflow, and solve problems
- Reporting to executive director on activities while managing diverse tasks, analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, project outcomes, and implement solutions in order to improve effectiveness
- Demonstrating the ability to perform operational functions with skills in accuracy and attention to detail
ORGANIZATION STRATEGIC DIRECTION AND OVERSIGHT
- Participate in EPC program and operations including development, capital, operations, finance and HR
- Serve to support the executive director in all possible manners
- Provide information, advice, and counsel to the executive director in the creation of policies, programs, and strategic direction of the Conservancy
- Continuously evaluate program activities, assurance continuing contractual obligations are being fulfilled, allocation of resources for greater program effectiveness; develop organizational and administrative policies and objectives for executive director’s consideration
- Work with executive director to grow and optimize EPC organizational structure and performance in support of EPC growth goals and strategic plan execution
- Execute special projects as needed
- Working with:
- Special Events and Marketing Communications team on post-even follow-up including support of our branding and PR strategies
- Development team providing fundraising support and identifying opportunities for cultivation and stewardship that increase donor engagement
- Program and Strategic Partnership team to ensure customer satisfaction, data collections and grant reporting requirements in a timely and accurate fashion
· MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination
- Experience in Cultural Tourism
- Experience generating financial reports, and analyzing and interpreting data;
- Experience negotiating agreements and working with municipal organizations
- Experience supervising staff, interns, and/or volunteers; and
- Experience working with Endowments, foundations and national non-profits
- Experience handling confidential information
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat
