    Join our team and work at the newest Embassy Suites! The bartender has an important job and he/she has to ensure that customers and patrons are provided with drinks and aperitifs in an efficient manner. The bartender has to have a discreet presence. This is a challenging job and involves long work hours with a lot of standing. There are associated job duties as well like cleaning and bill collection which have to be done by the bartender. A minimum of two (2) years of experience bartending preferably in a hotel setting. Outgoing personality, positive attitude and strong communication skills. Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, service procedures and function. Have working knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes. MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE. Hours will vary but flexibility to cover evening shifts 7 days/week is required. Full time and part time positions available.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    Prepares standard mixed drinks, pour wine and beer and serves food to guests seated at the bar.

    Presents drink menus, makes recommendations and answers questions regarding beverages.

    Upsells drink specials and food items as directed by management.

    Learns the names of patrons and personally recognize our regulars.

    Records drink orders accurately and immediately.

    Accepts guest payment, processes credit card charges and make change (if applicable).

    Prepares garnishes for drinks and replenishes snacks, appetizers for bar patrons.

    Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.

    Maintains cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.

    Receives and serves food orders to guests seated at the bar.

    Reports all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to restaurant manager.

    Assists with the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies.

    Washes(and sterilizes) glasses and dishes in the absence of the dishwasher and/or as directed by the manager.

    Fills in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant supervisor.

    Performs other duties as required within the scope of responsibility.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent GED preferred. A minimum of two (2) years of experience bartending preferably in a hotel setting. Outgoing personality, positive attitude and strong communication skills. Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, service procedures and function. Must be 21 years of age. Have working knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes.

    License/Certification: Must possess or be able to obtain any/all locally required licenses/certifications that relate tothe job being performed such as training in local legislation regarding alcohol permits and rules. A valid driver’s license is preferred.

    Language Skills: Ability to exercise excellent communication, organization, time management and listening skills. Fluency in a second language is an advantage.

    Mathematical Skills: Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a cash register.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to manage priorities and be able to adapt to meet the diverse needs of our guests.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Constant standing with some walking. Duties are generally performed in an indoor setting and the employee will be using a computer frequently. Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictates. The employee is frequently exposed to changing temperatures (72-110 degrees F), slippery floors, bacteria in foods, noise (moderate to loud) and vibrations. This position will be working with Food and Beverage hazardous cleaning chemicals.
