Embedded Controls Validation Engineer

We’re partnering with an innovative engineering team that is looking to add an Embedded Controls Validation Engineer to support their growing portfolio of vehicle and powertrain projects. This is a 9-month contract role, ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment where creativity, precision, and collaboration drive results.
In this role, you’ll help ensure next-generation control systems meet performance and safety expectations by designing automated tests, simulating real-world conditions, and digging deep into root cause analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute validation test plans for embedded ECUs, based on detailed software and system requirements
- Develop automated test scripts and custom harnesses for bench and vehicle-level validation
- Simulate vehicle conditions using sensors, actuators, and electrical loads to test control software under various scenarios
- Diagnose hardware, software, and wiring issues using scopes, multimeters, and communication analysis tools
- Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, and suppliers to ensure successful integration and test coverage
- Provide clear documentation of test results and support continuous improvement of validation processes
What You Bring:
- 2+ years of experience validating embedded control systems (automotive or off-highway preferred)
- Proficiency with Python or similar scripting languages for automated testing
- Understanding of vehicle systems such as engine, powertrain, chassis, or suspension controls
- Familiarity with CAN-based communication protocols (CAN, J1939, UDS) and diagnostic tools like CANalyzer or dSPACE
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and design custom harnesses for test environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
