    Position Summary:

    As an Associate Attorney with the firm, the successful candidate will play a vital role in providing comprehensive legal counsel to Ohio Public School Boards of Education. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting thorough research, formulating guidance, and offering expert advice on a range of legal matters affecting their clients. You will be responsible for navigating the intricate legal landscape in areas such as employment contracts, labor relations, student discipline, special education, and more. Additionally, you will actively participate in client workshops and training sessions to ensure the clients remain informed about pertinent legal updates.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Conduct in-depth research and analysis related to legal issues affecting Ohio Public School Boards of Education.

    Provide expert guidance on matters outlined in R.C. Chapter 33, including limited and continuing employment contracts for both teaching and non-teaching employees.

    Advise on sick leave, FMLA, disability issues, and other employment-related matters.

    Assist in addressing employment discipline and termination issues in compliance with relevant laws.

    Analyze and offer legal insights into Collective Bargaining Agreement issues, grievances, and arbitration awards.

    Handle legal matters concerning charter and community schools, student discipline, Title IX, special education, workers' compensation, unemployment compensation, school taxes, finance, and more.

    Represent clients in litigation and Collective Bargaining Agreement arbitration proceedings.

    Provide legal guidance on First Amendment issues, social media matters, and other relevant concerns.

    Stay updated on legislative changes and legal developments impacting public schools in Ohio.

    Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff to ensure seamless legal services delivery.

    Participate in the planning and execution of client workshops and training sessions.

    Qualifications:

    Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

    Admission to the Ohio State Bar or eligibility for admission.

    Demonstrated interest in education law and a strong commitment to serving public school boards.

    Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

    Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

    Previous experience or coursework related to education law, labor relations, or relevant areas is a plus.

    Prior experience with public speaking, workshops, or training sessions is advantageous.
