Overview
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Nurse Manager (RN) to provide evening-shift leadership within a high-volume, trauma-capable emergency department in Independence, Missouri.
This role is responsible for clinical, operational, and people leadership across the Emergency Department during peak evening hours. The Nurse Manager serves as a hands-on leader and clinical resource, ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff engagement, and operational efficiency.
This position is well-suited for an experienced ED Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager ready to lead in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency environment.
Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership
Provide leadership and oversight of Emergency Department operations during evening hours
Ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered emergency care delivery
Monitor patient flow, throughput, staffing, and resource utilization
Serve as a clinical role model and escalation resource for the ED team
People Management
Lead and support multidisciplinary ED staff, including nurses, paramedics, technicians, and support personnel
Participate in hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and corrective action as needed
Promote engagement, accountability, and professional development within the department
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and service excellence initiatives
Support staff education, competency validation, and ongoing training
Administrative & Financial Oversight
Assist with budget awareness, staffing productivity, and operational efficiency
Coordinate department operations with hospital leadership and ancillary departments
Support communication and alignment between frontline staff and leadership
Qualifications
Required
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Missouri or compact eligible)
2+ years of recent Emergency Department experience
* ED Charge Nurse experience considered; prior manager experience preferred
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or RN Diploma
Strong clinical judgment and ability to lead in a fast-paced environment
Required Certifications
BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) within 90 days of hire
Required Within 1 Year of Hire
ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
