    We are currently recruiting for a Regional Mass Care Coordinator to work at the  Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) — one in Southwest Virginia.

    Full-time, Temporary | April 27. 2026 – June 30, 2027 (potentially full-time permanent)

    40 hours per week & as needed in cases of emergency (overtime eligible)

    You’ll help local departments of social services (LDSS) prepare for and respond to disasters by supporting mass care planning, providing training and mentorship, strengthening regional partnerships, and serving as a liaison between local and state agencies. This role requires frequent regional travel, telework, and participation during emergency activations. State travel policies and reimbursement rates apply.

    Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of emergency management and mass care principles
    • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and build partnerships
    • Strong communication and presentation skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
    • Willingness to travel frequently within assigned region

    Preferred but not required:

    • Experience in an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) or Incident Management Team (IMT).
