Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate Veterinarian Assistants to join the team at our Newly constructed and opening high quality veterinary emergency hospital in Watkinsville, Georgia . Veterinary Technician/Assistant as such you will work closely with the entire clinic staff to ensure the health and well-being of all of our pet patients. Responsibilities

Triage pets as they arrive at the clinic

Interview pet owners to obtain a patient history

Take vital signs and acquire blood samples

Assist doctors and other staff members with the administration of medications and with patient restraint

Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs

Assist with surgeries and monitor animals after surgery

Operate and maintain hospital equipment, including EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors, and machines, etc.

Administer medications and provide at-home dosage instructions for clients

Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications

Assists veterinarians with a variety of emergency procedures and critical care situations

Communicate in a positive manner with clients

Calm and soothe anxious patients

Keep accurate patient records

Qualifications

Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is a benefit

Knowledge of animal care and handling preferred

Excellent communication skills, uses effective and appropriate methods of interacting with others

Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a busy environment

Patience and a love for animals
