Position Summary
The Employee Support Specialist plays a critical role in supporting employees of all abilities within enABLE’s inclusive food manufacturing environment. This position focuses on helping team members succeed at work by providing day-to-day support, reinforcing job skills, promoting independence, and fostering a respectful, safe, and productive workplace. The Employee Support Specialist works closely with production leadership, job coaches, and community partners to ensure employees are supported while meeting operational and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Support & Coaching
Provide on-the-job support to employees of varying abilities in manufacturing, packaging, and sanitation roles
Reinforce job instructions, routines, and workplace expectations in a clear, patient, and respectful manner
Assist employees with task organization, time management, and transitions between activities
Encourage independence while offering appropriate guidance and support
Workplace Inclusion & Communication
Promote an inclusive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
Support positive communication between employees, supervisors, and job coaches
Assist in de-escalating challenges and redirecting behavior using approved support strategies
Model appropriate workplace behavior and food safety practices
Safety, Quality & Compliance Support
Support adherence to food safety, hygiene, and safety policies (GMPs, PPE, allergen awareness)
Observe and report quality or safety concerns to supervisors
Help employees understand and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Documentation & Collaboration
Communicate observations, progress, and concerns to leadership as appropriate
Assist with basic documentation related to employee support, accommodations, or training progress
Collaborate with external partners (e.g., vocational programs, job coaches) as needed
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in supportive employment environments
Strong interpersonal, communication, and observational skills
Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive employment
Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a food manufacturing environment
Preferred
Background in special education, social work, job coaching, or human services
Experience in food manufacturing, production, or warehouse environments
Familiarity with behavior support strategies or workplace accommodations
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout production areas
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
Willingness to work in environments with temperature variation, noise, and food allergens
