    Labor & Employment Counsel/Senior Counsel – Houston, TX

    Our client, a global law firm with a strategic industry-focused approach, is seeking a Counsel or Senior Counsel to join their Labor & Employment practice in Houston, TX. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile employment litigation and advisory matters, collaborating with a prestigious, collegial, and innovative legal team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Litigation & Advocacy

      • Represent clients in Texas employment litigation, handling matters in both state and federal courts
      • Manage adversary proceedings, including depositions, hearings, and trial preparation
      • Trial experience is preferred but not required
    • Employment Counseling & Compliance

      • Advise clients on federal and state employment laws, ensuring compliance with labor regulations
      • Provide guidance on employment manuals, workplace policies, and HR best practices
      • Engage in direct client counseling, offering legal strategies for risk mitigation and workforce management
    • Regulatory & Risk Management

      • Counsel clients on employee relations, wage and hour issues, discrimination claims, wrongful termination, and workplace investigations
      • Handle compliance-related audits, training programs, and regulatory updates

    Key Requirements:

    • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
    • Active bar membership in Texas (must be in good standing)
    • 3+ years of experience for Counsel and 7+ years of experience for Senior Counsel
    • Extensive knowledge of federal and Texas employment laws
    • Experience managing complex employment litigation cases in state and federal courts
    • Strong drafting, negotiation, and case management skills
    • Ability to handle a high-volume caseload with attention to detail and deadlines
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively

    Compensation & Career Advancement:

    • Counsel: $180,000 - $200,000
    • Senior Counsel: $250,000 - $265,000
    • Promotion Opportunities – Counsel can advance to Senior Counsel, and Senior Counsel can be considered for Partnership based on performance, contributions, and firm needs

      • Senior Associates, Associates, and Sr. Counsel – Expected in-office at least 2 days per week
      • Counsel, Staff Counsel, and Patent Agents – Expected in-office at least 1 day per week
