Currently we have an opening for a CONSTRUCTION SAFETY SPECIALIST at a federal government customer facility in Arlington, VA. Candidates should have five to ten years of experience, a passion for safety, and experience that includes indoor construction safety work.

    Candidates will be part of an established team of five professionals who have central initiatives and independent projects. These are “owner’s representative” type positions. You will oversee projects and make suggestions on correcting identified findings; thus, long-term relationship building is critical. Candidate should be comfortable to independently walk jobsites, identify safety issues, and do so in a way that builds relationships

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Provide oversight to multiple construction projects simultaneously and work independently without constant supervision, yet still use good judgement and concise communication (verbal and written) to ensure that the Manager and Customer Representatives understand what is happening at each jobsite
    • Utilize OSHA and Army Corps of Engineers (EM385-1-1) regulations
    • Ensure general contractor's compliance with all safety rules and procedures
    • Attend weekly project meetings and address safety issues with staff
    • Advise contractor supervisor of non-compliance, stop work in imminent danger situations and report actions to supervisor
    • Deliver clear, concise verbal and written communication about an issue, including recommendations based on findings from daily walk-throughs, and weekly project reports with deficiencies noted as well as corrections
    • Initiate follow-up on issues to ensure compliance
    • Recommend programs, policies and processes to manage construction-renovation safety at multiple facilities
    • Teach safety-related classes and perform accident investigations; investigate near-misses
    • Share thoughts and opinions with other construction safety professionals on team.

    SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

    • Clean credit and no criminal history.
    • Having a federal CAC in recent past is preferred
    • U.S. Citizenship
    • Completion of OSHA 500 or ability to complete in 6 months
    • Able to crawl, climb over obstacles, walk on uneven surfaces such as ramps, rooftops and able to climb ladders without assistance
    • Able to enter confined space or work on high-elevation task locations
    • Five to ten years' construction safety experience - with some experience in interior construction/renovation
    • Degree in Occupational Safety preferred, but not required
    • Able to achieve Secret clearance.
