Job Description
The Sr. Manufacturing Controls Engineer will be responsible for the multitude of steps in the entire battery manufacturing processes from mixing through cell formation. As each individual step in the battery cell manufacturing process is critical for high-performing batteries, the Sr. Manufacturing Control Engineer will work cross-functionally to ensure that PLC and software control systems for all of the equipment in the manufacturing process. You must be dexterous and detail oriented. The Sr. Manufacturing Controls Engineer will primarily be responsible for individual or multi-steps in the manufacturing process. The Sr. Manufacturing Controls engineer will be responsible for identifying, qualifying and driving continuous improvement on the equipment used in cell manufacturing. Expected duties include driving yield improvement, increasing throughput in the entire cell assembly process, identifying various types of metrology equipment that allow or real time control and adjustment to the equipment and process to create the highest quality and lowest total cost cell in the market.

As an Automation Controls Engineer, you will develop the processes and high-speed equipment to enable high volume cell manufacturing. To develop the cell manufacturing process, you will identify technologies for use in cell manufacturing, such as machine vision, linear servo conveyance, laser cutting/welding, etc., and develop the application of those technologies to optimize the cell manufacturing process and equipment. Equipment design responsibilities will include the design of sensing strategies, specification of appropriate hardware and components, and implementation of robust control strategies, reliable safety systems, and operator-friendly HMIs. Help to develop controls standards and specifications.
When working with vendors to develop manufacturing equipment, you will assist with RFQ preparation, design reviews, and commissioning. You will establish test plans and control test plan execution at vendor and EnPower facilities during installation and buy-off (FAT, SAT, Safety Buyoff).
