    Energy Control is a service company which has been in business since 2001. We provide scheduled, routine service and emergency support for Industrial Boiler Rooms and Power Plants. We specialize in watertube and firetube boilers, burners and controls. We also provide turnkey design-build solutions and service what we sell. The innovation and success of our company has created an opening for a Self-Starting Individual who is willing to learn combustion.

    We are looking for a Field Service Technician with both mechanical and electrical expertise who can service and replace field devices as well as perform troubleshooting. AC and DC control experience is a must. Understanding Combustion and Control Loops is a plus.

    Daily travel is required within North/Central New Jersey and New York City. You must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. A company service vehicle will be provided after a probationary and training period.

    The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work with others as well as work alone. Excellent communication skills are essential for customer satisfaction, retention, and company profitability.

    · Roles and Responsibilities:

    The following is expected:

    o Meet with the customer to listen, understand, and provide support for equipment problems.

    o Perform mechanical, electrical troubleshooting and calibration on transmitters, switches, valves, and damper drives.

    o Perform device replacement, testing and commissioning tasks.

    o Work safely.

    o Provide satisfactory clean-up and housekeeping.

    o Meet with customer and provide a detailed service report, discuss a general summary, and determine if follow-up is required.

    o Upload documentation to the office, provide feedback for future follow-up, equipment ordering and scheduling.

    · Expectations and Familiarity with:

    o Must be fluent in English (written and verbal skills)

    o Must be Safety Oriented.

    o Must possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

    o Must have AC and DC Circuit experience.

    o Must be able to follow instructions and understand workflow processes.

    o Understand 4-20mA analog electrical signals.

    o Understand 3-15psig pneumatic signals and electrical I/P transducers.

    o 120 VAC Electrical Solenoids and relays.

    o Reading and understanding electrical prints and ladder logic diagrams.

    o Reading gages.

    o Cooperation and participate with our internal knowledge sharing.

    o Be able to tolerate loud environments with occasional temperature extremes.

    o Understanding Combustion and Control Loops is a plus.

    o Experience performing Combustion Tuning is a plus.

    o PLC experience is a plus.

    · Previous Work Experience Preferred:

    o Previous experience in a commercial or industrial setting working on controls systems.

    o Ability to calibrate transmitters, switches, valves, etc.

    o Electrical with experience in an Industrial and/or Commercial setting. o HVAC electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

    · Minimum Education/Certification Required (at least one) :

    o High School diploma or equivalent AND technical degree/certificate from an accredited college or university or equivalent job experience in the combustion field. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

    o An Associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology.

    o A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is a plus.

    · Physical Demands/Unusual Working Conditions: 95% of work involves site visits to customer with 30 minutes to 1-1/2 hours away in NJ and NYC. Most site work is typically indoors within Industrial Boilers Rooms and Power Plants in Hospitals, Pharmaceutical, Chemical and Manufacturing Companies. Some work may be outdoors at Cogen Facilities. Must be willing to be on call to respond to emergency service calls.

    · Computer Skills: Must have strong skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
