    Job Description

    The Energy Markets Associate will play a key role in supporting the Asset Management and Operations teams. They will be a critical part of assisting Apex in energy management activities across all the ISO’s we operate in. The ideal candidate that will be hired into this new role for Apex will ideally have experience of market participant operations in a number of ISO’s demonstrated knowledge of ISO processes and rules and be able to prepare energy market data analytics and reporting.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Support market daily market operations including scheduling and settlements for wind, solar and storage projects on behalf of the Asset Management team.
    • Support short-term asset optimization activities for operating projects across various power markets.
    • Generate revenue reports informed by market settlements data using tools such as Power BI.
    • Perform data analysis and present relevant information to Asset Management team and/or leadership as necessary.
    • Develop and maintain an understanding of market drivers. (price/load/transmission/renewables/fuel) to support short term optimization of operating projects.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    To succeed as an Energy Markets Associate at Apex Clean Energy, you’ll need to excel within the following criteria:

    • Undergraduate degree required
    • Knowledge of US wholesale power markets (ERCOT, MISO, PJM, SPP, CAISO) and history of working with operating projects in those markets.
    • Minimum of 3 years experience with scheduling, settlements or energy management for renewable assets. Storage experience is a plus.
    • Experience managing PPA/offtaker requirements and reporting for operating assets
    • ISO 101/201 training and/or operator certification (e.g. PJM) highly preferred
    • Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, python (snowflake) a plus.
    • Experience optimizing assets in ERCOT and PJM markets highly preferred
    • High attention to detail
    • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated success at meeting deadlines, and the ability to manage many tasks, people, and projects simultaneously
    • A positive attitude and comfort being flexible, adaptable, and solutions-oriented
    • Remote work could be considered for an ideal candidate

    Work Environment:

    Works primarily traditional office hours in an indoor office environment. Flexible work hours allowed when work duties and business operations permit.
