SUMMARY
The Oracle Solution Architect will manage and execute activities to support and create business solutions in the Oracle EBS ERP, Oracle Cloud, and system integration space. Through their breadth of functional, technical and project experience , this person will work with the business and IT community to plan, design, build, and test well-thought-out solutions from start to finish. The ideal candidate will be someone who can mix their systems know-how, data skills, integration technology experience, business process knowledge, project management and soft skills to deliver IT solutions to business problems. Along with the day-to-day activities above, the position will also assist senior IT leadership in providing oversight, direction, and strategies to a global team that help foster alignment in solutions that meet the business objectives of the organization.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee, manage, and help execute the activities of IT and business operations team members for assigned application projects and improvements, primarily consisting of Oracle EBS ERP, Cloud Applications, including OCI/OIC and various bolt-on systems.
- Provide highly technical and functional hands-on expertise to effectively facilitate the design and build of Oracle EBS ERP and Cloud solutions in a global manufacturing and distribution setting.
- Communicate with IT and business community to continually align on the status, next steps, assigned actions, and priority of activities along with assessing the resources both in IT and the business relative to these activities.
- Act as a Project Manager on special projects or initiatives in pertinent IT areas. Provide project management related functions that include creating high level project plans, tracking tasks, facilitating meetings, and mentoring others engaged in the project.
- Work with system users to translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications as needed and warranted along with creating process documentation, conducting required system configurations, performing integration testing, and instructing users.
- Interface with outside resources / manage consultants to accomplish tasks and initiatives including working with Oracle Support, third-party vendors, and other users of other products.
- Through developed relationships and circle of influence, this person will also drive the identification and development of other key personnel in becoming more self-sufficient in solving process and system problems.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- This multi-faceted role requires a high mix of soft leadership skills and hard technical skills in order to guide IT professionals and key business users through IT applications related projects and ongoing support.
- Ability to play multiple roles including project management, application/technical solution architecting, relationship management, business process analysis, and problem solving. Ultimately, the person filling the role needs to be a go-to person for any aspect throughout the life cycle of an application.
- Demonstrated aptitude to effectively communicate and constructively engage with all organizational levels, including ability to build consensus and drive decision making.
- Exhibit expert knowledge of a broad set of system functionality that would include such areas of planning, supply chain, manufacturing, finance, and distribution functional areas.
- Ability to perform advanced SQL queries, deliver custom packages for EBS and demonstrate advanced knowledge of the Oracle EBS data model/table structures. Experience with SQL Server databases a plus.
- Must be able to effectively manage team members as well handle multiple initiatives and deadlines and deliver high quality results using best-practice methods.
- Use of soft skills and initiative to accomplish tasks; demonstrate ownership and resolve in getting things done.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Mentor team members and key user community in a suitable manner that creates synergy and that promotes collaborative working relationships.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of technical and/or functional experience in a mix of the manufacturing, supply chain, fulfillment, and distribution areas of Oracle EBS R12 or 11i applications with direct on-hands experience in applying that expertise.
- Previous experiences in various Senior Business Analyst, Programmer Analyst, or Business Intelligence roles would be beneficial in forming the foundation knowledge needed.
- 2+ years of experience working with Oracle Cloud applications, specifically experience with Oracle Integration Cloud (or formerly ICS) is highly preferred.
- Previous management/supervisory experience is a plus.
- Must have participated on several Oracle implementation projects or other ERP implementations in either a functional or technical capacity.
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related technical/business field.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including the ability to travel by air/auto to remote sites.
- Must be able to work in front of a personal computer for long periods of time.
- Flexibility to work over-time and weekends to resolve any system-related issues or maintenance. On call / off hours work during emergencies.
- Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time and be able to travel more frequently in some scenarios such as implementations or emergency situations. Able to travel globally if needed.
