  • Responsibilities

    BUSINESS CONTRIBUTION:

    The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for implementation of production processes and procedures, leading productivity improvements with project based activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduce waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design new systems and processes and provide facilities & methods to ensure the cost effective integration of new products or for the improvement of existing ones into manufacturing operations
    • Assist with shop floor layout and cell designs
    • Generating production documentation such as assembly instructions
    • Reduce variability in manufacturing by providing standard work methods and work instructions. Ensure product and process quality meets specifications required
    • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout
    • Work closely with the Production team and CI team to continuously improve and standardize current processes, develops and implements improved processes and incorporates into designs
    • Investigates and troubleshoots process problems as they occur and takes necessary corrective actions
    • Confer with Design Engineering to assure designs fit the best manufacturing processes. Request engineering changes to reduce costs, improve quality or decrease manufacturing times
    • Lead continuous improvement efforts throughout the organization utilizing Lean Manufacturing tools including 5S, set-up reduction (SMED), standard work, value stream mapping and continuous flow manufacturing
    • Identify equipment needs and further investigates and prepare capital equipment justifications
    • Perform cost-estimating functions as needed on new or pending orders. Operate AutoCad and/or Pro E equipment to design and develop tooling and fixtures
    • Develop training programs and materials and conducts training sessions as needed on processes
    • Ensure all HSEQ rules and regulations are communicated and enforced throughout the Organization. Proactively participate to safety awareness and improvement
    • Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times, both internally and externally. Follow the published processes and comply with all company policies and procedures. Be an ambassador for the businesses in particular ensure that Health & Safety comes first at all times

    REQUIRED CAPABILITIES:

    • Bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent) preferred
    • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing processes and process improvement within a Lean environment accepted.
    • Languages: English - essential fluent oral & written
    • Be an effective team member, working with supervisor and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output
    • Assertive, resilient and welcomes change
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
