JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resource Generalist will play an integral role in all the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, enforcing company policies and practices, and corporate initiatives. The HR Generalist receives specific direction from the Director of EHS & HR, helps to develop HR work plans on both a short- and long-term basis, and resolves most problems with Department Managers and Supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Experience with both Exempt and non-exempt positions within manufacturing settings.
· Work closely with temporary agencies (production roles) to source temporary support for projects and staff shortages
· Conducts or acquires background checks and employment eligibility verifications.
· Conducts and updates new hire orientations which include company policy, culture, benefits, and safety.
· Collaborates with management in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, safety, and sexual harassment.
· Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
· Utilizes the company’s programs to help sustain and build upon a culture that fosters inclusion, open-door policy, high associate engagement, and talent development focus
· Conducts wage surveys within the labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
· Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
· Maintains and processes unemployment claims in a timely, efficient manner and attends unemployment hearings when necessary.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
Bilingual skills: English and Spanish preferred.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations that govern benefit plans and leave management to include ERISA, ACA, IRS, FMLA, and ADAAA

Experiential: Human Resource experience in Manufacturing required.
Educational: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
o At least five years of progressive human resource experience is preferred.
o SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.
o Experience with HRIS systems, Payroll Systems and ERP.
