    Why this role matters:

    As an Engineer at Water Works Engineers, you'll play a key role in designing infrastructure that directly supports safe, sustainable water systems throughout California. Based in our San Mateo office, you'll contribute to projects that include potable and recycled water treatment, direct and indirect potable reuse (DPR/IPR), membrane bioreactors, PFAS treatment, process and site design, and distribution systems including pipelines, tanks, and pump stations.

    Your daily impact:

    • Support project teams in delivering designs for treatment plants, pipelines, pump stations, tanks, and One Water solutions.
    • Perform engineering calculations, hydraulic modeling, equipment sizing, and technical documentation.
    • Contribute to process, mechanical, and civil site designs for water/wastewater infrastructure.
    • Participate in the preparation of engineering reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across all Water Works Engineers offices.
    • Engage in construction administration and fieldwork as needed, including site visits, submittal reviews, and inspections.
    • Maintain high standards of technical quality, client satisfaction, and teamwork across projects.

    What you bring to the table:

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
    • At least two (2) years of professional experience in water, wastewater, or recycled water infrastructure design.
    • An EIT certification or California PE license is required.
    • Working knowledge of engineering principles and applications related to treatment processes, pipelines, and pumping systems.
    • Familiarity with design codes, permitting standards, and water quality regulations relevant to California projects.
    • Prior involvement in multidisciplinary consulting projects, especially with California water utilities or public agencies, is preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or process modeling software is beneficial.
    • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

    Competitive salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $75,000 to $135,000 (California-specific pay range, reflective of current market rates).
