    Intelligent Living Solutions is redefining automation technology by creating custom, cutting-edge solutions for modern homes and businesses. As they continue to grow across the Midwest and beyond, they seek an Engineer who is self-driven, technically curious, and comfortable working both independently and in the field. You would join a small Engineering team and solve problems and design solutions for home and business owners that no one has seen before.

    This role is ideal for someone who thrives without a strict roadmap - someone who enjoys solving new problems, exploring possibilities, and building innovative solutions from the ground up.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and modify electrical and automation systems using AutoCAD and related software
    • Create and interpret electrical schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams for high- and low-voltage systems
    • Apply real-world electrical and automation experience to practical, job-site solutions
    • Design and review automation and control panels, including component selection and layout
    • Work across both office and field environments, including installation support, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
    • Travel regularly to job sites across the country
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including Operations, Field Technicians, Sales, Purchasing, and Project Management
    • Interact directly with clients, providing clear communication and technical guidance
    • Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting support for electrical and automation systems
    • Ensure systems meet applicable electrical codes and standards

    Role Details

    • Approximately 50% field-based work
    • Mix of commercial and residential projects (approximately 50/50 to 60/40)
    • Reports to Project Management
    • Opportunity to work on first-of-their-kind projects with no predefined roadmap
    • High level of independence and ownership expected - must be self-motivated and driven to take initiative

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work and hands-on experience
    • Approximately 3+ years with a Bachelor's or 10 years of relevant technical background
    • Experience with industrial automation and CAD is a plus
    • Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and automation hardware
    • Ability to work independently and solve problems creatively
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients
    • Knowledge of NEC and electrical codes preferred
