Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Engineer to support Growth Management operations through technical review, compliance evaluation, and engineering analysis. This role is responsible for reviewing development applications, ensuring adherence to codes and standards, and assisting with construction-related issues and public inquiries.
The Engineer will work closely with internal teams, inspectors, regulatory agencies, and the public to support development review processes, floodplain management, and infrastructure compliance. This position requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of engineering standards, and the ability to interpret regulations and technical documents. Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
- Two (2) years of experience in engineering, construction review, or a related field
- Experience reviewing plans, specifications, and development proposals for compliance
- Experience interpreting engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements
- Experience assisting with construction-related issues and resolving technical problems
- Experience working with floodplain management, drainage, or environmental regulations
- Experience supporting inspections or working with field personnel
- Strong computer skills, including engineering and office software programs
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience Preferences
- Experience working in a municipal or government development review environment
- Familiarity with land development codes, comprehensive plans, and engineering standards
- Experience with FEMA regulations and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) guidelines
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed
- Ability to perform tasks involving bending, kneeling, and reaching
- Ability to work in both office and occasional field environments
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field

- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE)
