As a member of the Verizon Global Services team—Quality, Test & Repair organization, the Consulting Engineer, Network Engineering – Device Testing possesses an excellent understanding of engineering fundamentals, experience with automation/robotics, as well as applying knowledge of company policies, industry standards and procedures to assess and analyze product testing & quality performance of wireless products consisting of 3G/4G/5G Home products, mobiles, tablets, MiFi and modems.
What you'll be doing...
- Supporting automated device preparation and testing robots for customer returned products in Verizon’s brand-new fully-automated state-of-the-art Indiana returns center across all device models and OEMs.
- Full functional testing as performed by Verizon’s robotic automation driving greater than 95% uptime.
- Power areas include power management functions, charging and charging circuits.
- Software stress areas include Memory and CPU utilization.
- Working with OEMs and Verizon authorized third parties to develop & support software tools for functional design validation and extended testing with an emphasis on RF and acoustic audio.
- Candidate will be working with our Test Vendors and 3PL partners to implement these tools in production and will closely monitor Verizon's quality metrics and KPIs.
- Participating in detailed analysis on No Trouble Found (NTF), Bounce Rate, Return Rate, Defect rate on new device launches. Provide analysis and solutions to drive NTF and Bounce reduction and increase OEM alignment.
- Participating in initiatives on specific hardware automation design and processes as Verizon continues its transformation into full automation for reverse operations.
What we’re looking for...
- The candidate will work closely with Operations, Monetization, Device Evaluation lab and Device Requirements teams in strategic planning, identifying and implementing requirements/test plans and participating in Verizon Supply Chain Lean Six Sigma initiatives.
- Take ownership of specific processes within the array of Verizon lead tools (software and hardware) and flows within the returns center in Indiana driving maximum performance and uptime.
You'll need to have...
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have one or more of the following...
- BS in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in handheld design or high-volume consumer electronics
- Experience with robotics and hardware automation.
- Working knowledge of Mobile handset system including RF, Baseband, ME and SW components.
- Experience with Keysight and/or Rohde & Schwarz RF test instrumentation is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with successful experience in securing and analyzing large volumes of data to make functional improvements and recommendations.
- Self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Strong project planning, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task on several high priority initiatives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
