    Job Description

    Adheres to and enforces compliance will all standards/regulations established by Louisiana State Police Gaming Division, OSHA, USCG, ABS Consulting and other federal, state, and local agencies having jurisdiction over riverboat gaming and permanently moored craft in Louisiana while adhering to the policies and procedures set forth by this property

    Manages the riverboat’s preventive maintenance program. Maintains all equipment onboard the riverboat at a level commiserate with a premier gaming operation by keeping a schedule of inspections and preventive maintenance and tracking tasks assigned/completed.

    Makes proper preparations for and oversees the environmentally safe transfer of bulk oil to and waste oil from the riverboat.

    Makes proper preparations for and executes the hygienic and environmentally safe transfer of sewage and other wastes from the riverboat.

    Maintains the riverboat’s engineering manuals, procedures, records, and logs.

    Submits and manages the budget for the riverboat’s engineering, which includes recordkeeping of purchases and inventorying of parts and supplies for dependable operation of the engineering plant.

    Assists the CIC in emergency preparedness training and drills.

    Administers engineering training and qualification program for riverboat crew who operates and/or maintains riverboat equipment/machinery and/or stand and engineering watch.

    Trains and evaluates riverboat crew.

    Arranges projects, maintenance/repair tasks, and cleaning duties so that they are performed in ways that minimize the impact to guest service.

    Maintains awareness of operations in/around the riverboat through direct observation.

    Negotiates sub-contractor services and oversees contract work to ensure timely completion and fulfillment of company expectations.

    Coordinates own activities with CIC and EOWs.

    Coordinates activities of (a) EOWs and (b) Riverboat Technicians when assigned to engineering tasks.

    Assists CIC in staffing and scheduling of riverboat crew.

    In an emergency when the CIC is not aboard, is Riverboat Person-In-Charge, who is responsible for the safety of all Guests and team members aboard the riverboat.

    Quickly perform/oversee several tasks in response to emergency situations including, but not limited to: securing power to the scene of an emergency, securing dampers and ventilation, closing watertight doors, cutting off fuel to machinery, starting fire pumps, fighting incipient fires with a handheld extinguisher, activating installed fire suppression systems, switching electrical power from shore to ship’s service.

    Maintain spare parts inventory.

    Handles all scheduled/unscheduled maintenance through-out the property

    Maintains riverboat systems as to minimize interruption of normal casino operations

    Keeps records and a log of all activities

    May be required to perform duties outside of normal job description where in the Company’s judgment it is necessary in the interest of efficiency, productivity, or improved customer service.

    In the absence of the CIC, is overall person in charge unless the COW is or has been previously licensed.

    Ability to prioritize work with guest safety and comfort as the main objective.

    Assure that everyone under their command provides outstanding legendary Boyd Style guest service.

    Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent

    Documents that establish both identity and employment eligibility

    Valid driver’s license

    Preferred License: Holds or has held a CHIEF ENGINEER LIMITED Horsepower license. If expired, it is not older than 5 years and has not been revoked or suspended by the U. S. Coast Guard.

    Must have held a DDE license for at least 5 years and, if the license is not current, then the expired license is not older than 5 years and has not been revoked or suspended by the U. S. Coast Guard.

    Must pass a chemical dependency test as required and work in a drug free environment.

    Must have strong leadership and team building skills.

    Must be detailed oriented.

    Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.

    Must be flexible to work varying time schedules as needed.

    Able to create or read and interpret documents such as vessel schematics, blueprints, construction drawings and policy and procedure documents.

    Ability to operate machinery, hand and power tools, emergency equipment, cleaning equipment

    Able to write routine correspondence and process needed reports.

    Able to speak effectively with customers and/or team members.

    Able to communicate clearly and effectively over handheld radios

    Able to communicate effectively during emergency situations
