    Engineer Technical Writer

    Clearance Level: Must have an Interim Clearance (Secret) in order to be considered for this position due to the nature of the work being done. MUST BE US CITIZEN

    About the Role:

    Aquila Technology is seeking a Engineer Technical Writer to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The Engineer technical writer will receive complex and highly technical descriptions from developers and/or engineers and will be required to translate those descriptions into technical reference manuals. The technical writer must be a highly skilled person who understands technical concepts down to the detail level and who can translate them into clear, concise, comprehensive documentation. 

    There are a few requirements for the position:

    • Must be a U.S Citizen- Must have an interim or Active Secret Clearance (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
    • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
    • Must be within 100 miles of worksite (Lexington, MA)

    Description:

    Researches, prepares and produces electronic media (computer interactive CDs, interactive websites, audiovisual, film, video) for training, sales, promotion, documentation, and other communicative purposes for both internal and external audiences. Consults with user to determine appropriate medium, creates product concepts, plans production, and produces media to include scriptwriting, location scouting, shot selection, video shooting, tape logging, music and sound effect selection, computer graphics, animation, digital effect creation, final editing and tape duplication. May act as liaison with vendors ensuring scheduling, costs and quality requirements are met.

    Must Have:

    • 5 years Creation of library elements (symbols and cells) that reflect industry standards (IPC, ANSI, IEEE)
    • 7 years Familiarity w/R&D/STEM content
    • 5 years Technical Writing
    • 2 years Networking Applications and Protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, SSH, FTP and HTTP/S.
    • 5years Reviewing Specification Requirements
    • 2 years Digital Signal Processing
    • 5 years Adobe software (Acrobat, InDesign)
    • 5 years MS Suite (Excel, ppt)
    • 2 years VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog Firmware Development (Modelsim)
    • 5 years Content Writing
    • Nice to Have:
    • Familiarity with JIRA / Confluence
    • Framemaker experience

    In addition, the technical writer must have skills in the following areas:

    • Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel in particular
    • Visio, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator: Engineering Diagramming programs
    • Understanding of VHDL
    • Understanding of networking technologies
    • Understanding of Modelism (Mentor Graphics) & Vivado (Xilinx): Hardware programming

    Preferred Skills:

    • JIRA & Confluence: web based collaboration and Wiki designing
    • Adobe Framemaker: word processing tool for larger formats Interim clearance is sufficient for start.

    Location: Place of performance of assignment may be a combination of on-site and remote. The on-site vs.  remote shall be based on the needs of the team during the assignment.

    Interview Process: The 1st round interview will be a Zoom with the hiring manager. The 2nd round interview will be a Zoom with additional team members as needed.
