    Engineering Lead

    Role Summary

    Our Client is building modern rails for small-business receivables. As Head of Engineering (path to CTO) reporting to the CEO, you will set the engineering vision, own architecture and delivery, and stay hands-on to ship the work that matters. You’ll hire and grow a high-performing team, establish culture and processes that balance velocity with reliability, and decompose complex projects into safe, shippable increments. With a customer-first mindset and an obsession for financial transaction correctness, you’ll partner with leadership to turn strategy into outcomes across modern stacks and cloud. Tel Aviv (hybrid) or New York. Seed-stage. High ownership. High impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    • First 90 Days: Define and begin executing clear engineering delivery objectives; establish core ceremonies, metrics, and quality gates.
    • First 12 Months: Mature the engineering roadmap and architecture; scale the team; consistently ship customer-value safely and quickly.
    • Lead and scale the engineering organization, working directly with the CEO; set a clear vision, technical standards, and delivery cadence.
    • Establish engineering culture, processes, and procedures that emphasize safety, quality, and speed—suitable for financial-grade systems.
    • Own architecture and roadmap; break complex initiatives into low-risk, shippable increments; stay hands-on as an IC where it matters.
    • Drive product innovation through rapid iteration, strong technical choices, and close engagement with customers and internal partners.
    • Build and mentor a high-performing team, strengthening hiring, onboarding, coaching, and growth practices across Tel Aviv and New York.

    Required Qualifications & Skills

    • 7+ years of modern software development (e.g., Python, Golang, Node.js) with a track record of shipping in production.
    • Proven leadership guiding teams through ambiguity; sets direction, raises the quality bar, and delivers reliably.
    • Systems thinking and the ability to see the big picture and decompose complex work into safe, incremental releases.
    • Web & Infra: Webflow, Vercel, AWS, GCP, JSON-centric integrations.
    • Cloud: AWS and/or GCP (production operations experience valued).
    • Data: SQL databases (Postgres, MySQL, etc.).
    • Customer orientation: passionate about helping customers and turning feedback into product and platform outcomes.
    • Financial rigor: obsessed with the correctness of financial transactions and data integrity.
    • Location: Position is located in Tel Aviv, with an option for remote; New York hybrid is also considered.

    Nice to Have

    • Experience in or with Israeli startup teams; comfortable collaborating across cultures, time zones, and rapid decision cycles.
    • Finance/fintech domain familiarity or experience with transaction-heavy systems.
    • Full-stack openness and strong fundamentals across services, APIs, and data.
    • High-growth, early-stage experience leading a young, hungry team.
    • Bonus Skills Nice to Have
    • SQL databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL) and solid data modeling for transactional accuracy.
    • Cloud infrastructure management on AWS and/or GCP (deployments, observability, performance, and cost awareness).
