  • Responsibilities

    Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead and oversee engineering functions including but not limited to structural analyses and design/drafting functions. This role will be responsible for managing a team of structural/civil engineers and drafting professionals to ensure the successful planning, design, and execution of utility infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, change management, and interpersonal skills to drive performance, resolve conflicts, and foster a high-performing team culture.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead and mentor staff, fostering a collaborative and accountable environment.

    • Manage engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards and industry best practices.

    • Set clear expectations and provide coaching to promote professional development and team effectiveness.

    • Proactively identify and resolve personnel and project-related conflicts, facilitating constructive communication and solutions.

    • Coordinate with internal departments (operations, procurement, sales) and external stakeholders (contractors, consultants, customers) to deliver projects on time.

    • Develop and manage project schedules, scopes, and resource allocation plans.

    • Oversee QA/QC processes to ensure technical accuracy and consistency across all engineering deliverables.  Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, new technology adoption, and innovation initiatives.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • BS in electrical, civil, mechanical engineering, or related (master’s preferred).

    • Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in the utility industry (telecom can be considered).

    • At least 5 years of leadership experience managing technical teams.

    • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage diverse teams in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of successful conflict resolution and team building.

    • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management capabilities.

    • Experience with large-scale capital programs and asset lifecycle management.

    • Experience working within a utility and/or EPC.

    • Familiarity with utility procurement, operations, and public engagement.

    • Proficiency in engineering software tools such as PLS-CADD, SolidWorks, ETAP.

    • PMP certification or equivalent project management training
