Job Summary: Chief Engineer – Prestress Concrete Manufacturing
A well-established prestress concrete manufacturing plant is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead and oversee all phases of engineering and drafting operations. This leadership role is responsible for managing internal and external engineering resources, ensuring project compliance, and supporting production through technical expertise and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee all engineering projects to ensure compliance with company standards, state/federal regulations, and client specifications
Define departmental goals and allocate necessary resources (internal or external) to meet them
Plan and execute engineering initiatives from concept through completion
Recruit, mentor, and manage engineering and drafting staff
Perform quality control checks to ensure the safety, reliability, and effectiveness of all products
Monitor and evaluate project costs and timelines
Supervise the installation of engineering-related equipment and software
Coordinate with production teams to resolve design-related issues and ensure manufacturing alignment
Oversee the development and implementation of engineering processes, standards, and drafting tools
Maintain company certificates of authorization and serve as managing agent per state licensure requirements
Coordinate project billing with accounting and monitor monthly department operating finances
Facilitate collaboration among team members and resolve any internal disputes
Meet with clients and visit job sites as needed
Qualifications:
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Missouri or ability to obtain via reciprocity
Minimum 5 years of experience in precast concrete engineering
Strong understanding of precast manufacturing processes
Experience managing engineering and drafting teams
Skills & Competencies:
Excellent leadership and organizational skills
Strong communication (verbal and written)
Proficient in Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Revit, and precast design software
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment
Adaptability under pressure and changing conditions
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Office-based with occasional client meetings and jobsite visits
Ability to travel to company-sponsored events or seminars
Capable of working extended hours when necessary
Must be able to handle work-related stress professionally
