  • Responsibilities

    The Engineering Technician works with engineers to develop new processes, parts, and tools.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Builds molds for manufacturing composite parts primarily via hand layup of tooling prepreg on master molds. Builds other types of tools as needed using a variety of methods.
    • Builds new parts with minimal process definition in coordination with engineers.
    • Leads builds of high complexity/low volume parts.
    • Provides feedback on process development for parts based on prototypes and low volume initial production to transition processes to mainline production group.

    Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job:

    Education Level: **(Required): High School Diploma or GED ** or equivalent experience

    Field of Study/Area of Experience: 4-6 years of experience in building hand-laid up composite parts and/or building composite tools.

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities List:

    • Experience with building hand-laid up composite parts is required.

    o Experience working with tooling prepreg is preferred.

    o Experience performing surface preparation on master patterns and molds is preferred.

    o Experience repairing composite parts and tools is preferred.

    • Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment is preferred.
    • Experience reading engineering drawings is required.
    • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision in order to meet deadlines

    Environmental & Physical Requirements:

    Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb. May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.

  • Qualifications
    • High / Technical School graduate or equivalent
    • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and perform repairs
    • Ability to comprehend electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, HVAC and plumbing drawings or diagrams
    • Knowledge of: electricity, electrical codes, NFPA 70E, OSHA Regulations
    • Basic measuring skills to read English and Metric systems and use of tape measures, calipers and micrometers
    • Ability to interface effectively with all departments to foster a success –oriented, deadline driver organization
    • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy to both internal and external customers
    • Computer literacy to include Microsoft Office products and basic knowledge of NC and CNC programming
    • Must have strong analytical, organizational and decision-making skills to execute and manage effectively
    • Must be highly motivated, results-oriented individual with the ability to lead and manager others
