    Are you passionate about educating kids? Are you a planning wiz who loves details? Does a flexible part-time position that allows you to work both from home and on-location sound appealing?

    Engineering For Kids is hiring a Birthday Party Coordinator/ Instructor to organize, manage and lead our birthday party program. Additionally, the position will support the Program Manager in the day-to-day business operations with a focus on our weekend classes and summer camps.

    The Birthday Party Coordinator/ Instructor is part administrative work and part teaching; we believe that working in the field will provide you a deeper understanding of our organization, our curriculum and our clients. Experience in both areas is essential.

    Responsibilities: This is a new role in our organization. While we have a general overview of responsibilities, it’s possible that responsibilities will change as needs are identified and as the role is developed (with your help!).

    Birthday Coordination

    Book and coordinate parties, including but not limited to responding to requests, scheduling staff, preparing supplies, communicating client needs to staff, arranging for invoicing

    Client service & follow up

    Act as the primary contact for staff and clients, including on weekends

    Promote birthdays through various marketing platforms

    Grow our birthday program with new ideas and activities

    Weekend Classes

    Support our weekend classes and staff, including booking substitute instructors, communicating with facility staff

    Day-to-Operations

    Provide customer service, including responding to emails, phone calls, and direct inquiries from clients, community partners, staff

    Work with the Program Manager to create marketing campaigns and seasonal programming guides

    Participate in staff training

    Help create and/ or maintain procedures and documentation

    Help update and/ or create programming curriculum

    Manage supplies and inventory

    Assist with managing the online staff schedule

    Maintain regular communication with staff

    Instruction

    Work with a co-instructor to lead birthdays

    Co-lead classes, workshops, camps, as needed, using EFK curriculum and lesson plans

    Prepare and transport supplies to and from birthday/ class/ camp locations

    Qualifications:

    Experience planning, facilitating, and executing projects within a time frame

    Strong customer service skills

    Experience teaching children, ideally through hands-on learning activities

    Experience with classroom management

    Demonstrated leadership skills

    Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, kind, and confident manner with both children and adults (oral and written)

    Able to work both independently and in a team environment

    Ability to quickly assess and problem solve a situation with confidence

    Has a real interest in S.T.E.M fields (engineering, robotics, coding, Minecraft)

    Requirements:

    Access to a vehicle (you may be required to transport supplies to/from locations)

    Has/ willing to obtain emergency first aid and CPR-Level C

    Has a recent (within 4 months) vulnerable sector Police Information Check or is willing to obtain

    Available on weekends and in summer

We teach after-school classes, workshops, parties and camps at recreation centres throughout Greater Victoria.
