    We are currently seeking to add a Senior Ecologist to our growing Environmental team. This is a full-time with benefits position.

    We provide creative and effective solutions that address the needs of modern society while protecting our natural resources. Environmental services may include the feasibility of land, initial reconnaissance, critical areas assessments utilizing USACE and DOE methodologies, and wetland and stream delineations. We provide services for land use entitlements and assistance with permitting for JARPA, HPA, SEPA and ESA.

     

    Our team is accomplished in critical area studies and mitigation designs providing clients with habitat management plans, biological evaluations, wetland and buffer restoration, enhancement- and creation plans to address development impacts.

     

    Our environmental and landscape architects provide clients with design and construction administrative services for general landscape and recreational amenities. Such projects include trails, boardwalks, play area designs, and interpretive and educational graphics.


    The ideal candidate will perform and manage projects from site reconnaissance through environmental permitting. This person thrives in coordinating with both internal and external team members across several disciplines, as well as with clients, governmental agencies, and contractors as part of the environmental assessment, regulatory review, site planning, and project permitting processes.

    What you'll be doing:

    • Performing field work using state-of-the-art data collection/analysis tools and software.
    • Working with creative in-house landscape architects and environmental planners to prepare mitigation plans.
    • Conducting field studies and ecological assessments.
    • Preparation and management of applications for environmental permits, including COE/DOE IPs/NWPs, with NMFS/USF&WS for ESA, and NHPA Section 106; WDFW HPAs; DNR FPAs; DOE SMPs; local agency permits; and NEPA/SEPA.
    • Report and proposal writing, and technical editing.
    • Coordinating with our multi-disciplinary team of ecologists and designers, as well as clients, governmental agencies, and contractors.
    • Responsible for schedules, production, and coordination of multiple projects concurrently.
    • Mentoring project staff to achieve and maintain corporate work performance standards.
    • Maintaining client relations and managing project performance to meet client expectations.
    • Managing the day-to-day communication with clients, contractors, and consultants.
    • Developing and managing project schedules and budgets.

    What we are looking for:

    Requirements

    • 9 to 12 years of experience with 4 years in private sector environmental consulting, preferably located in the Pacific Northwest.
    • Experience in project and budget management.
      • Ability and willingness to provide leadership to technical staff.
      • Experience in personally performing wetland determinations/delineations, stream delineations and typing; wetland ratings; functional assessments (e.g., credit-debit analysis); fish and wildlife habitat assessments and management plans; biological evaluations; performance monitoring, and mitigation planning, design, and permitting.

      • Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills.

      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, ACAD, and GPS.
        • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local codes and ordinances applicable to both critical areas and landscape requirements.

          • BS in ecology, environmental science, natural resource management, or related field.
          • Master’s Degree a plus
          • Certificate in Wetland Science & Management
