    SUMMARY

    We are seeking an Assistant Distribution Engineer who will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects. The Assistant Distribution Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, including engineering considering client needs, budget constraints, and design factors. From conception to completion.

    The Assistant Distribution Engineer will work on a variety of overhead and underground utility distribution projects (2.4kV to 69V )

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assists in the preparation and development of distribution and sub-transmission voltage construction packages for both overhead and underground projects, including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
    • Assists with modifying and reviewing production drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to distribution and sub-transmission voltage construction packages for both overhead and underground projects, including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
    • Develop routing analysis for the design of low to medium voltage (2.4-69kV) distribution and subtransmission lines using CADD/GIS design and mapping software.
    • Assists in performing field inspections, measurements, or calculations for overhead and underground electric facilities on public and private utility systems.
    • Applies basic knowledge of commonly used engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, OSHA and IEE codes, and procedures within the distribution engineering services industry.
    • Assists with research and compiles project related data as required by the project managers. Assists with compiling studies and reports.
    • Assists with correcting and updating drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within various design tools.
    • Assist with producing reports and visualizations to communicate technical results and interpretation of trends; effectively communicate findings and recommendations to all areas of the business.
    • Work closely with the project team to ensure deliverables and services are being provided to the client’s satisfaction.
    • All other duties as assigned.

       

      REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
    • Or Bachelor of Science in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
    • Master of Science degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year of experience.
    • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) strongly preferred.
    • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
    • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
    • Involvement on campus or in the community.
    • Basic knowledge in standard civil, electrical, mechanical engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills across multiple teams.
    • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
    • Basic computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, O-Calc, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and civil analysis programs.
    • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills.
