SUMMARY

We are seeking a Construction Engineering Director in the Austin, Texas area. Our client is a national engineering firm and seeking a recognized industry expert to lead and grow their design build services in the Texas market. You will provide insight and construction solutions to ensure the successful execution of various infrastructure projects such as: roadways, highways, interchanges, bridges, and overpasses.

DUTIES

• Identify and pursue strategic partnership and business development opportunities
• Spearhead contract negotiations and prepare detailed scope of services, estimate fees, and establish budgets for potential projects
• Provide team management and program leadership for the Construction team, including talent acquisition and staff development
• Market backlog, pipeline, and opportunity management within a CRM environment
• Contribute technical direction to the pre-award process by determining project scope, planning, and estimating and during construction, act as a technical resource for the project team
• Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards to lead the completion of on-budget, on-time construction projects
• Perform both in-the-office and in-the-field contract administration duties, including plan development, interpretation, budget management, schedule management, record keeping, change negotiations, quality, and project documentation
• Work on a variety of project delivery methods including Design Build, CM/GC, ID/IQ, and conventional Bid/Build projects
• Provide project management and administration on a variety of Federal, State, County and City construction projects and contracts

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management
• 10+ years of experience in construction project management and business development
• Texas Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire Substantial experience on large scale heavy civil projects (bridges, roads, highways, rail etc.) Experience in multiple procurement methodologies (design-build, design-bid-build, or construction management general contracting (CM/GC)
• Working knowledge of the design and consulting business, material properties, TxDOT specifications and contract administration practices
• Prior design/build and field operations experience
• Ability to build relationships with engineers, contractors, and government leaders
• Track record of developing high performing teams through mentoring, accountability, and feedback
• Ability to effectively influence in a cross-functional environment
• Previous end-to-end heavy civil construction experience on large scale design-build projects
