SUMMARY

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Distribution to work with an employee-owned firm winning 100 best companies to work for. A good candidate for this position needs to have experience working on multiple challenging items including the drafting and design of engineering deliverables on multiple complex utility distribution projects. This position requires interaction with utility clients and collaboration with multiple offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• This role is responsible for the preparation and development of distribution voltage construction packages for both overhead and underground construction
• Experience includes knowledge of overhead and underground construction methods, knowledge of distribution system equipment, and utilizing field data and GIS information to aid in the design
• Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
• Performs work that involves conventional engineering practices but may involve a variety of complex features. Requires general knowledge of precedents in specialty areas and familiarity with basic principles and practices in related specialties
• May coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and report preparation assignments
• This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
• Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered
  
• Design distribution facilitates utilizing client standards including overhead and underground distribution facilities
• Design and execution of distribution line projects
• Prepare calculations, proposals, and engineering/project cost estimates
• Assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient, or testing is advisable
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers

   

  REQUIREMENTS
  

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
• Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering a plus
• 7 years of electrical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred
• Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred
• Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards. Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
• Ability to travel
