    Job Description

    Provide Site support for the FAA's ERAM (EnRoute Automation Modernization) Air Traffic Control System at the William J. Hughes FAA Technical Center. Duties will include troubleshooting and resolution of system problems as identified by system users. Administer, support, and deploy new functionality on a distributed, UNIX based national network.  Test, validate and incorporate changes using ERAM testbeds to ensure operational viability of modifications to the system. Support Key Site Test activities on-site, and remotely, testing software and supporting all stakeholders at an operational ARTCC.  The position requires significant interaction with other System Test Engineers, Software Engineers and System Engineers along with interface to FAA Customers and Management.

    Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a Position of Public Trust.

    THIS JOB IS CURRENTLY REMOTE BUT AS OF JANUARY 2022, WE ANTICIPATE HAVING TO REPORT TO THE WILLIAM J. HUGHES TECHNICAL CENTER (WJHTC) IN POMONA, NJ OR ATLANTIC CITY, NJ OFFICE LOCATION.

     

    EDUCATION:

    Must have a High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience OR Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field will be accepted in lieu of two (2) years of experience

    REQUIRED:

    • Ability to comprehend technical documentation  
    • Ability to analyze large complex datasets and present findings to stakeholders.
    • Ability to analyze and diagnose complex automation systems and report to upper management.
    • Knowledge of UNIX, specifically Linux and AIX (operating system and administration)
    • Knowledge of network attached storage, raids, and storage systems
    • Ability to occasionally work off-shifts and weekends; however, this is typically a standard 40-hour workweek
    • Ability to travel to FAA Air Traffic Control facilities as needed

    EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:  EnRoute NAS enterprise architecture knowledge, Data Comm enterprise architecture experience, ERAM knowledge

    SKILLS PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED: 

    • Operational troubleshooting and support experience, Maintenance Request (MR) analysis, operational issue triage
    • Knowledge of C, C++, Ada, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Perl, Python
    • Knowledge of UNIX, Korn shell and C shell script development
    • Knowledge of Ethernet network operating principles, operating systems (Cisco IOS), devices, configuration, protocols, and troubleshooting principles

     

    JOB LOCATION, TRAVEL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Worked is primarily conducted on Site at the WJHTC. Occasional schedule variations and travel to ARTCC’s is to be expected.

This includes maintaining soft copies of all TFMS hardware warranties, working with vendors on warranty, support or license renewals, working SAVES renewal procurements, working with the hardware engineers and vendors to provide EOL/EOS research and insight for the future forecasting and system needs, and sparing analysis. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a Position of Public Trust. This job is currently remote but once COVID restrictions are lifted the candidate will be expected to report to the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Pomona, NJ. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: Must have a High School diploma or GED and at least six years of related experience Or Associate’s Degree in a related technical field will be accepted in lieu of two (2) years of experience Or A Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical field will be accepted in lieu of four (4) years of experience Job Skills: • Ability to assess hardware, software, security and system requirements • Linux experience preferred • Experience with maintenance contracts and service level agreements preferred • Experience with hardware evaluations, hardware support, system engineering, hardware prototyping, systems evaluation, asset management, system architecture documentation, system design support and hardware deployment. • Must be a self-starter able to work on own • Excellent oral and written communication skills
