    Vanguard, in partnership with SkillStorm, is actively seeking candidates who have taken time away from the workforce and are ready to make their return into tech as Full-time Application Engineers in Malvern, PA and Dallas, TX.

    This position will be part of Vanguard’s Return to Work Program, Re-Boot, and is designed to refresh and reactivate previous tech skills. Throughout the program, you'll train for 14 weeks to re-learn the tools needed to succeed at Vanguard.The program's curriculum focuses on Java Full Stack Development and AWS topics that will directly relate to your role at Vanguard.

    Entry Level Application Engineer Responsibilities:

    • Utilize frameworks and languages like Java, JavaScript, and Angular to develop new and/or modify existing applications.
    • Collaborate in the creation of visual mock-ups, prototypes and diagrams as well as develop, deploy, test, and maintain applications using the Agile framework.
    • Communicate allongoing activities and results to business sponsors, stakeholders, and management.
    • Ability to work with project teams to successfully deliver new or modified functionalities.
    • Keen attention to detail to deliver solutions that meet business requirements and are operationally supportable.

    Entry Level Application Engineer requirements are:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Experience with software development using a modern OOP language (Java, C#, or similar) with a strong understanding in programming, data structures, algorithms, databases and SQL
    • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S. under SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.
    • Must be local to Malvern, PA and Dallas, TX or willing to relocate
    • Strong technical mind-set, including problem solving, trouble shooting, logical reasoning
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
    • Have taken a break from the workforce (For instance, as a caretaker), resulting in a gap of employment.
