Job Duties Include:
- Prepare, review, and update environmental investigation reports.
- Design projects leading to environmental protection, such as water- --reclamation facilities, air pollution control systems.
- Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide technical support for environmental remediation projects and for legal actions.
- Analyze scientific data and do quality-control checks.
- Monitor the progress of environmental improvement programs.
- Inspect industrial and municipal facilities and programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Advise Government agencies about procedures for cleaning up contaminated sites.
- Conduct hazardous-waste management studies and evaluate the significance of the hazard and advise on treating and containing it.
- Environmental engineers conduct hazardous-waste management studies in which they evaluate the significance of the hazard and advise on treating and containing it.
- Ensure hazardous waste regulatory compliance.
Additional Duties specific to the Denver Federal Center and throughout GS
- Develop GSA Region 8 Environmental Engineering Technical Scopes of Work and engineering Cost Estimates, evaluate Contractor engineering technical and cost proposals, and manage the schedules, budgets, quality control, value engineering, and Contractor operations performance of multiple large ($1-3MM) environmental ****
- Characterization, remediation, resource management, and regulatory environmental compliance projects.
- Review GSA Region 8 Contractor engineering work products for completeness, correctness, and compliance with regulations, statutes, and Executive Orders. Aid in the calculation, documentation, and reporting of GSA Regional Environmental Liabilities
- Implement the use of environmental engineering specific software including GSA’s proprietary Database Management Software (DBMS) and Esri’s ArcGIS as applied to GSA’s Environmental Program.
- Support GSA’s Regional facility compliance (including State issued Order on Consent) with respect to environmental regulations including CERCLA. RCRA, CAA, CWA, SPCC, and NDPES.
- Develop engineering protocols/methodologies and monitor the minimization of GSA’s Regional consumption of energy, water, and other resources as well as eliminate waste and pollution in all GSA operations and activities.
