  • Responsibilities

    The Environmental Field Technician ( Field Tech ) is an apprentice role responsible for environmental testing, according to specific project instructions from the Project Coordinating Department. The Field Tech is responsible for conducting environmental surveys, inspections, and assessments at residential and commercial properties, taking environmental samples in representative areas of concern, delivering samples to an environmental testing lab, NVLAP , for testing, and completing documentation related to the project.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    **

    • Complete all project-related tasks in an accurate and timely manner
    • Coordinate with the Project Coordinator, Certified Asbestos Consultant, field technicians, couriers on the specifications of project sites, descriptions, and environmental concerns of the properties
    • Conduct thorough inspections of the conditions of exterior and interior building materials
    • Conduct on-site testing and clearances for environmental hazards that include, but are not limited to: asbestos, lead, mold, and bacteria
    • Develop a proper testing schematic and review results on site when applicable
    • Write field reports based on the data and relay results of the testing to the Project Coordinators
    • Deliver environmental samples to accredited laboratories in a timely manner, when applicable
    • Inspect potentially affected areas, predict future hazards, and uncover why areas have become a concern in the first place
    • Manage daily agenda and stay organized from site to site while being prepared and ready for the next property inspection
    • Maintain company vehicle, equipment, field supplies and sampling media in clean and working condition
    • Participate in continuous education and training provided by the Company
    • Proficiency and understanding of the governing regulations for Asbestos and Lead as well as industry-accepted practices for Mold and Bacteria

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to multitask while retaining strong attention to detail
    • Ability to complete all project-related tasks quickly and accurately
    • Excellent client service and people skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals
    • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to changes in work schedules
    • Become proficient in company databases, project management systems and third-party software applications in use by the Company

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma
    • Continuing education in a vocational school, junior college, or four-year university is preferred
    • Current Cal OSHA/AHERA certification as a certified building inspector, Certified Contract Supervisor, Certification as a Lead Sampling Technician for lead-based material abatement, and Certification as a Site Surveillance Technician through the state of California, NIOSH582 equivalency certification, CMI certification & IICRC certification
