Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for implementing and supporting relevant environmental, health, safety, and sustainability programs within the North American organization. This includes collaborating with a team of professionals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, implementing best practices, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The EHS Specialist will work closely with front line employees and their leadership to maintain a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainability.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate’s degree in a technical or scientific field relevant to EHS or the railroad industry.
Licenses/Certifications: Must hold or obtain within 90 days of employment and be able to continue to maintain the following certifications:
Experience: 2+ years of experience in Safety, maintenance of way, or railroad industry.
Working knowledge of FRA, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and compliance tracking systems.
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with various departments.
Valid driver’s license and passport allowing to travel to all 50 states of the United States of America as well as Canada and Mexico.
An additional 2 years of qualifying experience may be considered as a substitute for the education requirement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field relevant to EHS or the railroad industry.
Licenses/Certifications: Professional safety or environmental certifications: OHST/CHST, CHMM, ASP, GSP, CSP, CIH

Compensation:
Loram determines compensation based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.
