Job Description
Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining programs and procedures that promote a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace. This position ensures that all company operations meet applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements while fostering a proactive safety culture. The EHS Coordinator will collaborate closely with management, supervisors, and employees to identify potential hazards, implement corrective actions, and promote continuous improvement in environmental, health, and safety performance.
Minimum Starting Salary: $70,000 - $80,000.00 Depending on Education & Experience
Essential Functions:
- Ensure all manufacturing processes and operations comply with applicable OSHA, EPA/TCEQ, and State and Local regulations.
- Maintain required regulatory documentation, including OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 Logs, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and the Chemical Inventory.
- Ensure full compliance with EPA and TCEQ requirements, including Tier II reporting, SPCC audits, industrial and solid waste management (VSQG activities), air permit by rule recordkeeping, and stormwater compliance.
- Conduct SWPPP stormwater monitoring and ensure timely submission of all required annual reports to the appropriate agencies.
- Audit facility operations to verify compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and corporate requirements.
- Enforce contractor compliance with all applicable safety policies, procedures, and regulations while on company property.
- Develop, administer, and conduct comprehensive safety training programs, including but not limited to: overhead crane operation, forklift safety, bloodborne pathogens, new hire safety orientation, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, and Fall Protection.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and identify future training needs to support continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all new employees are properly oriented and trained on the safe operation of equipment and company safety procedures.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to identify hazardous conditions, ensuring prompt correction or mitigation.
- Maintain monthly and annual safety performance statistics; review trends, accident reports, and audit findings with the Safety Committee and management to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Document and investigate all Near Misses, First Aid cases, and Recordable Injuries, implementing corrective training and preventive measures to minimize future incidents.
- Prepare and submit incident and investigation reports promptly to Human Resources and Management, and follow up to verify corrective actions have been implemented.
- Monitor and record paint usage and maintain associated environmental documentation.
- Coordinate the disposal of universal and industrial waste in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Assist with emergency response planning and conduct drill activities to ensure readiness and compliance with safety procedures.
- Maintain and update company safety policies, procedures, and programs to meet current business and regulatory requirements.
- Order and maintain inventory of safety supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
- Collaborate with the FabSouth Regional Safety Director and other stakeholders to ensure consistency in safety standards and initiatives across operations.
- Perform additional duties and special assignments as directed by the Plant Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly present safety concepts and training to employees at all levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and capable of maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams while maintaining a proactive and professional approach.
- Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and sound judgment in managing safety and compliance matters.
