    This position is responsible for supervising housekeeping staff to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily operations and ensuring compliance with infection prevention protocols, facility policies, and federal and state regulations. The role also includes responsibility for floor maintenance, including operating and maintaining cleaning equipment.

    Classification: Non-Exempt

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Qualifications include at least 2 years of technical experience in housekeeping or environmental services in a hospital or healthcare setting. Prior supervisory experience required and have hands-on experience with floor maintenance and operating related equipment.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE

    Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may encounter chemical hazards.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Directly supervises Environmental Services Technicians. Assist department managers in scheduling of employees and maintains daily attendance records.

    Implements established facility and departmental procedures and programs that meet goals and ensures clean and safe environment.

    Meets with managers routinely to ensure that areas are properly maintained.

    Performs deep cleaning, stripping, sealing, waxing and polishing of hard surface floors.

    Operates and maintains heavy duty cleaning equipment, including automatic floor scrubbers, buffers and wet vacs.

    Works in conjunction with Infection Control to ensure adequate disinfection practices are implemented and enforced.

    Maintains departmental records.

    Conducts daily quality improvement inspections to ensure quality and satisfaction levels meet facility and regulatory standards.

    Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training classes for staff. Orients new employees to the facility, their duties and responsibilities.

    Ensures employees have adequate supplies and equipment by monitoring material and supplies inventory.

    Covers areas unassigned due to absenteeism or assist in special cleaning projects as needed.

    Keeps abreast of changes and technical developments in the EVS field.

    Comply with facility Standards of Behavior and complete all required education assignments within the designated timeline.
