    Job Description

    AECOM is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Technician to join our team in Billings, MT. In this role, you will work closely other team members to support remediation system operation and maintenance and groundwater monitoring projects at client facilities in the Montana region. You will ideally have experience in mechanical systems and environmental remediation/sampling. Mechanical experience may include pump repair, plumbing, construction, home repair, auto maintenance or similar. Typical projects include operation and maintenance of groundwater treatment systems, soil remediation, and soil and groundwater sampling.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Managing data and tracking operating parameters.
    • Performing routine fieldwork (such as environmental multi-media sampling, operations, maintenance, and inspection of equipment) working under close supervision for the first six months.
    • Performing routine activities associated with remediation system operation and maintenance, general equipment maintenance, groundwater monitoring, and recording accurate field data.
    • Other activities may include health and safety coordination, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications, maintaining proper project documentation, and subcontractor oversight.
    • Position will require OSHA 40-hour hazardous waste operations (HAZWOPER) and other safety training.
    • Travel to work sites requiring overnight stay may be required up to 1 week per month

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience.
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
    • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment physical, background check, and drug and alcohol screen, and will be required to participate in ongoing medical surveillance and client-specific drug and alcohol screening as a condition of continued employment.
    • Position requires working in outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable environmental conditions including heat, cold, dust, noise, moisture, vibration, and potential chemical hazards.
    • Position requires manual dexterity and involves repetitive bending, use of hand or power tools, and gripping/squeezing hand tools and levers.
    • Position requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
    • Position requires strict compliance with safety requirements, including use of personal protective equipment (gloves, eye protection, safety-toe shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, and fire-resistant clothing).
    • Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship is required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Position requires the ability to operate a computer (Word, excel, email, Teams, etc.).
    • Mechanical skills and hands-on experience with mechanical systems.
    • Experience with environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, and waste).
    • Experience with industrial health and safety programs.
    • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
    • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPERR Training/Current Refresher is preferred.
