    The Role

    Epic Gardening is a leading online gardening media company, where millions of enthusiastic gardeners come for entertaining and informative growing content across video, blogs, podcasts, social platforms, and books. We’re passionate about giving our deeply engaged audience the products they need to become a better gardener. Through our online store, we offer highly-curated, best-in-class gardening products designed to perform well for the gardener and stand the test of time. Having recently closed a round of financing from The Chernin Group (TCG), we are now accelerating our growth and are looking for an entrepreneurial, accomplished content leader who is obsessed with strategy, experimentation, and growth to head up our content team.

    Reporting to our Founder & CEO, the Head of Content will be responsible for setting our content strategy and rapidly expanding our reach across platforms while producing the best gardening content in the world. In this role, you’ll formulate Epic Gardening’s content strategy, accelerate our following across channels, and collaborate closely with the Commerce and Marketing teams to achieve incredible growth and provide our community with the best, most comprehensive resource for gardening. 

    Responsibilities

    • Formulate Epic Gardening’s content strategy to accelerate the growth of our audience. 

    • Continuously assess Epic’s formats (video, blogs, text, podcast) and channels to make sure we are making the highest impact investments. 

    • Oversee the development and management of Epic’s brand standards and content style. 

    • Nurture a team culture that prioritizes quick testing, evaluation, and iteration on new growth channels.

    • Collaborate closely with the Commerce and Marketing teams to align our content and commerce roadmaps to provide our community with the best, most comprehensive resource and products for gardening.

    • Implement systems and reports that actively measure, manage, optimize and communicate Epic’s content performance.

    • Expand Epic’s content to new verticals in gardening and find new ways to keep our community engaged.

    • Ensure Epic Gardening has the right content, the right brand presence, and strong engagement on every major social channel (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, etc.)

    • Lead experimentation on all new platforms and content formats for Epic Gardening; develop several distinctive and recognizable formats across each platform

    Requirements

    • A minimum of 6 years of editorial leadership and or audience development experience

    • Deep digital media, content, social and search expertise

    • A passion for content 

    • Analytical approach to content development

    • Track record of developing new talent and editorial franchises and exceeding growth targets

    • Demonstrated ability to build strong, productive relationships with people and teams in all contexts

    • Excellent communication, decision making and organizational skills

    • Sharply honed visual and brand sensibility

    • Creative problem solving skills and ability to work across teams and gain buy in
